Ton van der Linden - Resignation

"Alles hebben meegemaakt, samen met je levenspartner terug kunnen kijken op je leven en daar vrede mee hebben voor je definitief afscheid neemt van het aards bestaan. Zo stelde ik mij oud worden voor.

Het beeld "Resignation" maakte ik kort nadat ik zelf een hartinfarct had doorgemaakt. Ineens werd ik geconfronteerd met mijn eigen sterfelijkheid en dat dat beeld zoals ik dat voor mezelf had bedacht helemaal niet zo vanzelfsprekend was. Helaas is dat iets wat in deze tijd door de Coronacrisis veel mensen overkomt.

Iedereen wil graag oud worden, niemand wil oud zijn, zo zegt het spreekwoord. Maar ouderdom heeft wel degelijk grote de schoonheid in zich. De schoonheid van vergankelijkheid, die ons leert dat alles tijdelijk is en dat we moeten genieten van wat er is.

Met dit beeldje eer ik de ouderdom en ik wens iedereen een oude dag toe zoals hier verbeeldt."
